All three won on day 3 and reached the last 16, where unfortunately they all lost.

Last 64

Jamie Jones 1-5 Neil Robertson
43-64, 88-35, 35-77(68), 16-100(53), 30-100(100), 0-84(84)
After a relatively slow start the scoring machine kicked in … 89th century this season for Neil in frame 5.

Matthew Stevens 5-0 Yu Delu
70-16, 66-28, 62-53, 81(55)-40, 71-29

Li Yan 1-5 Ding Junhui
68-62(62), 22-77(57), 16-98(51), 58-64, 0-128(128), 37-66
Li Yan didn’t actually play badly and the score doesn’t reflect the way the match went. Li Yan had in fact a good chance to make it 2-2 at MSI and who knows what could have happened. He played some very good tactical shots along the match, but a few errors at crucial times cost him dear.

Chen Zifan 0-5 Judd Trump
6-93(61), 42-83(61), 1-85(64), 50-60, 0-88(88)

Liang Wenbo 5-1 Scott Donaldson
88(54)-1, 92-32, 126(111)-1, 90-23, 20-93(65), 72(67)-19

Last 32

Matthew Stevens 4-5 Judd Trump

Liang Wenbo 5-3 Mark Davis
66-15, 0-90(90), 84-0, 81(80)-32, 20-72, 4-75(52), 89(52)-30, 86-20

Rory McLeod 1-5 Neil Robertson
59-66, 16-111(111), 48-60, 53-82(56), 51-29, 4-116(116)
A lot of frames were actually quite close even if the score isn’t. Neil is now on 91 centuries for the season.

Last 16

Mark Selby 5-1 Liang Wenbo
7-72(52), 69(62)-40, 67-45, 64-28, 135(135)-4, 131(131)-0
Before the MSI the match was close and Wenbo surely had his chances. After the MSI … Mark just got into another gear.

Marco Fu 5-4 Neil Robertson
138(121)-0, 0-99(61), 7-127(127), 127(127)-1, 95(52)-0, 114(114)-0, 64-73, 38-73, 56-49
The match started very strongly and Marco lead 4-2 having scored three centuries, whilst Neil had one as well. The match got scrappier as Neil fought back to force a decider. The last frame was very tense and very close but Marco prevailed eventually.

John Higgins 5-4 Judd Trump
5-130(100), 0-82(63), 12-110(110), 0-68(68), 104(104)-0, 137(89)-5, 90(90)-0, 124(124)-0, 75(63)-38
What a match! After this Judd tweeted that he never played that well and still lost.

Last 128

Gerard Greene 4-2 Li Yan
115(67)-1, 44-68, 82(77)-36, 67-40, 0-74(74), 66(56)-29

Yu Delu 3-4 Ian Burns
11-114(53,51), 87-8, 75-32, 32-74(64), 0-90(85), 65-57, 1-92(92)

Liu Chuang 4-2 Cheng Zhe
0-94(58), 67-26, 53-9, 50-80, 71-46, 71(71)-0

Dave Harold 4-2 Zhang Anda
76-54, 72-0, 0-84(80), 82-16, 18-66, 70(58)-0
The first frame lasted over 62 minutes and although the others were shorter, it was still a very slow match. Anda made the highest break of the match, 80, but lost all the same.

Neil Robertson 4-1 Lyu Haotian
71-0, 55-65, 84(78)-1, 83(83)-0, 84(84)-0
Neil very disappointed not to make 3 centuries… and feeling for his very young opponent.
You can listen to his post-match here:

Jamie Jones 4-0 Cao Xin Long
87(80)-18, 55-1, 70-37, 74-1

Liang Wenbo 4-2 Jak Jones
33-69(52), 83(83)-0, 85(54)-39, 49-56, 80-0, 74-15

Judd Trump 4-2 Kyren Wilson
A confident display by Judd, with two centuries to boot.

Peter Ebdon 0-4 Li Hang
50(50)-67, 60-73(59), 32-94, 32-69
Another good win for Li Hang.

Last 64

Judd Trump 4-1 Jamie Burnett
62-55, 71-0,0-80(80), 65-50, 73-30

Fergal O’Brien 0-4 Liang Wenbo
10-80(56), 8-120(113), 8-81(50), 0-113(113)

Anthony Hamilton 4-1 Li Hang
12-68(68), 63-55, 65-17, 77-38, 56-36
Obviously after the first frame it was a right scrap…

Neil Robertson 4-0 Rory McLeod
77(57)-6, 72-9, 73-51, 104(104)-0

Last 32

Shaun Murphy 3-4 Liang Wenbo
58-72, 63-27, 71(65)-0, 86(86)-16, 31-69(55), 23-81(81), 9-76(52)
Great result from Wenbo especially considering that he got to a bas start and was 3-1 down.

Neil Robertson 3-4 Mark Williams
56-75(60), 126(112)-0, 71-13, 38-75(50), 63-67, 73-24, 2-77
Neil said after the match that he let it go scrappy and that was the key to MJW’s win.

Judd Trump 4-1 Anthony McGill
0-99(98), 62-39, 71-6, 92(73)-4, 88(53)-9

Last 16

Judd Trump 3-4 John Higgins
0-76(66), 20-77(63), 64-28, 64(59)-1, 5-64, 60-51, 37-68

Liang Wenbo 2-4 Barry Hawkins
78(52)-1, 77-31, 0-80(69), 29-58, 67-74(64), 10-69
Wenbo lead 2-0 and then had a good chance to go 3-2 … but it wasn’t to be. Barry is a tough, tough competitor.

Liang Wenbo 4-5 David Grace
This was as close as it comes, but eventually David prevailed. Good scoring from both as well.

Neil Robertson 5-3 Li Yan
13-71, 87(87)-36, 76(54)-27, 48-60, 15-63, 64(50)-0, 61-23, 69(51)-14
Neil’s assessment was that Li Yan played very well. To the viewer’s eye both seemed to struggle. Difficult conditions?

Pankaj Advani 5-3 Chen Zhe
79(53)-43, 16-59(55), 87-2, 20-75(51), 61-64, 140(136)-0, 66-5, 71-50

Hard fought and high scoring. Li Hang did very well to win the decider in one visit after “Eric” comeback. Hard work pays off.

Mark Selby 4-0 Chen Zhe
78-47, 81-33, 87(87)-4, 67-63
Sleepy never looked fully awake until the last frame and he had a mare out there…

Michael Holt 4-1 Li Hang
41-71, 68-33, 65-46, 78(56)-13, 81-29

Judd Trump 4-2 Liu Chuang
13-83, 58-54, 92(92)-0, 69-43, 0-138(138), 86(86)-41

Stephen Maguire 4-0 Cao Xin Long
58-18, 108(108)-4, 61-59, 80(80)-0

Robbie Williams 4-0 Li Yan
73-14, 76-65, 96(60)-4, 63(54)-19

Mark Williams 3-4 Liang Wenbo
79-1, 30-85(78), 1-82, 86-0, 10-73(59), 75(64)-25, 15-65(64)

Ian Burns 4-0 Yu Delu
74-12, 99(56)-5, 94-44, 72-35

Neil Robertson 4-1 Adam Stefanow
119(69)-31, 93-10, 83-42, 30-64, 75-30

Gerard Greene 3-4 Zhang Anda
48-83, 68-57, 52-12, 20-65, 77(77)-23, 35-69, 14-74(62)
Good win for Anda this.

Last 64

Judd Trump 4-0 Chris Wakelin
66-22, 105(105)-0, 79(79)-7, 75(75)-11
Judd looked very strong except maybe n the long potting department, but fair to say Chris didn’t put him under pressure at all.

Dominic Dale 4-1 Liang Wenbo
100(100)-22, 127(51,76)-0, 35-59, 61-39, 87(70)-58

Neil Robertson 3-4 Alan McManus
32-73(54), 69-32, 55-61, 0-125(125), 112(112)-0, 101(100)-8, 24-75(67)
This was actually a very good match to watch. Neil missed the 15th red for a maximum in frame 5. Alan’s tactical nous is good as ever and a very positive attitude in the decider was key to his victory. Shame for Neil who sees his defence come to an early end.

Mark Joyce 1-4 Zhang Anda
4-78, 72-34, 32-82, 7-66(66), 4-84(84)
And another good win for Anda.

Last 32

Judd Trump 4-3 Steve Davis
75(75)-0, 0-145(137), 72(63)-7, 64-56, 0-83(55), 47-63, 88(88)-13
Judd is through to the final day, but Steve Davis gave him a stern test. The veteran Legend still has it, as he showed with a great 137, the only century of the match.

David Gilbert 3-4 Zhang Anda
69-47, 65-73, 26-79, 71-18, 57-42, 50-79(60), 8-65
And yet another very good win for Anda! And how close that was!

Last 16

Judd Trump 4-3 Mark King
74(51)-17, 67-55, 79-0, 9-67, 59-60, 1-62, 74-29
Mark King came from 3-0 down to force a decider. But Judd prevailed in the end.

Zhang Anda 4-1 Rod Lawler
5-127(123), 70-31, 99(99)-0, 99(51)-51, 79-1

Last 8

Judd Trump 1-4 Matthew Selt
13-70, 78-57, 72-39, 92(92)-0, 67-54(54)

Zhang Anda 2-4 Fergal O’Brien
22-89(56), 33-70, 2-119(113), 113(113)-0, 70(50)-6, 2-71(55)
