Michael Holt

Michael Holt, born 7 August 1978, is from Nottingham, England; he turned professional in 1996. He was relegated from the main tour at the end of his first season but requalified in 1998 and has been a professional ever since.
Michael has won one ranking event – the 2020 Snooker Shoot-Out – and two minor-ranking tournaments. He has been runner-up at two ranking events – the 2016 Riga Masters and the 2019 Snooker Shoot-Out. He also reached the semi-finals of the 2013 Shanghai Masters as well as five further quarter-finals.
Michael has been ranked as high as 20st in the World. His current ranking is 31st.
An extremely capable player, he has sometimes struggled with keeping his emotions in check. To his own admission, the mental side of the sport is where he has room for improvement.

The 2021/22 season proved to be a terrible one for Michael. He never got past the last 32 in any event; he lost in the first round on six occasions.. He needed a strong run at the World championship to stay on the main tour but lost in the second round of the qualifiers (6-3 to Tom Ford). As a result, he was set to lose his professional status, barring success at the 2022 Q-School. Michael played in all three Q-School events but didn’t manage to regain his Tour card.
