Farewell Billy
Billy O’Connor has lost his battle against cancer this morning. For four years, he fought against the disease, showing great courage, he never gave up. He was a lovely person and a great snooker talent.
Billy’s funeral is held on 22/12/15 at 10am Holy Family Church, Oxbow Lane, Dagenham, Essex and onto Eastbrook End Cemetery for the burial after. Flowers can be ordered from Four Seasons in Broad Street, Dagenham.
Ronnie O’Sullivan himself had tipped him to become a great of the game. Unfortunately, this terrible disease has robbed him of his future and his dreams. It’s a great loss for snooker, and an even greater loss for his family, his friends, and us, at Grove, who have managed and supported him since the age of nine. We are devastated. Our thoughts go out to his family.
Desperately sad news. Billy O’Connor fought his illness with bravery, dignity and good humour. I’d been covering his junior snooker career for Snooker Scene since around 2010 and was hoping he’d pull through and fulfil his potential. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP.
We have lost an absolute gem of a lad, who never complained about his
disease, but met it head on and fought like the true champion he is. The
whole of the snooker community is in shock, and it is a fitting tribute that so many top players as well as amateurs have said kind words. Our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this time.
