EPTC 2012 Event 3 – Acuerate Antwerp Open as it happened

17 October 2012 No Comment

The Acuerate Antwerp Open 2012 started on October 17, 2012 with the amateur qualifying rounds. The pros came in action from Friday, October 19, 2012, on. Judd Trump, the defending champion, aimed at retaining his title, but the man he beat in what was branded the “best ‘best of 7′ ever”, Ronnie O’ Sullivan, will not compete in Belgium this time. Unfortunately he couldn’t as our Jack beat him in the last 64. As we reached the final day Jack was the last Grove man standing but he couldn’t go past the last 16

Saturday 20th of October 2012

1 pm (CET – local time)

Last 128 – Liang Wenbo 1-4 Mitchell Mann
It was a long match with both players struggling and ball running awkward. Mitchell got the better of it but neither player enjoyed it.

2 pm (CET – local time)

Last 128 – Jack Lisowski 4-1 Jamie O’Neil
Jack dominated the match and that’s exactly what the score reflects.

Last 128 – Judd Trump 4-2 Passakorn Suwannawat
Judd didn’t have it all his way against Passakorn who played some very good snooker of his own. It was entertaining stuff and he crowd clearly enjoyed the match.

7 pm (CET – local time)

Last 64 – Judd Trump 2-4 Jack Lisowski
Ouch! Never easy when team mates and good friends has to play each other. Jack was the better player on the night and won this entertaining match by 4-2 or 5-2 if we believe Worldsnooker (allegedly the extra frame was awarded to reward his superior hairstyle). Judd will be disappointed not to be able to defend his title, but you can’t win them all.

9 pm (CET – local time)

Last 32 – Jack Lisowski 4-0 Matthew Selt
40 minutes is all it took to Jack to book his place into the final day! He was on fire!

Sunrday 21th of October 2012

10 am (CET – local time)

Last 16 – Jack Lisowski 3-4 Joe Perry
Snooker players are usually not morning persons and it showed in this very close and rather scrappy match that Joe ultimately took.
