UK Championship 2012

30 November 2012 No Comment

The UK Championship starts on December 1, 2012 in York, and Judd is the defending champion. Everybody will be after him … including fellow Grove players Wenbo and Jack! Wenbo was in action in the first session of the tournament and lost 4-6 to Barry Hawkins despite playing well. Judd’s defense was short-lived as he lost to Mark Joyce 5-6 in the last 32. Things didn’t get better for the Grove team as Jack lost in the last 32 as well, with a 2-6 against Stuart Bingham.

Last 32 – Barry Hawkins 6-4 Liang Wenbo
Wenbo looked extremely disappointed after the match. In fairness he played well and fought a great comeback from 0-3 down to lead 4-3. But Barry played even better, and given their recent results, looked the more confident of the two. That was probably the key factor in the end. Under pressure, Wenbo missed a few that one would expect him to get, Barry didn’t.

Judd Trump 5-6 Mark Joyce
Judd raced to a 3-0 lead, was 4-1 and 5-2 ahead, but from there struggled badly – his long potting in particular was awful – and ended up losing 5-6. Listen here to Judd press conference after the match

Jack Lisowski 2-6 Stuart Bingham
Jack was obviously disappointed with his own game, in particular his long potting. He couldn’t get a buzz from the match or the occasion. His opponent, Stuart played extremely well and was full confidence. Listen to Jack’s reaction after the match
