Last 32 – Andrew Higginson 1-5 Zhang Anda
Anda completely outplayed Andrew Higginson and scored very heavily: breaks of 96, 62, 63 and 68 paved his way to victory and his first last 16 appearance. After the match Anda reacted very positively going by this excerpt of WSA report on their site.

“I played pretty well, I was doing well in long pots and scoring,” said Zhang after reaching the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time.

“I believed that I could win today and I was determined to win. I need to improve my safety a lot, especially if I play Mark Selby next. He’s a tough opponent and always knows how to win matches.

“I think I can do better this season, and hopefully get to more venues. I can’t set any targets but let’s see what happens.”

Last 16 – Mark Selby 5-1 Zhang Anda
Mark Selby had been struggling in the last 32, but there was nothing of that in this match. He put Anda under a barrage of big breaks – 69, 71, 76, 90 – to lead 4-0 at MSI. Anda, who had looked rattled before the MSI, came back fighting and pulled one back with an excellent 87. The next frame, that proved to be the last, was the only one without a big break and Mark took it to wrap up the match.
