The Player Championship Grand Final concludes the Players Tour season with 32 players competing for the £100 000 winners prize.
Neil, Judd, Wenbo and Yu Delu have qualified. Neil and Wenbo fell at the first hurdle. In the last 16, Yu Delu played an excellent match to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan 4-3 and Judd beat Shaun Murphy 4-0 in no time. Judd won another very high quality match, beating Joe Perry 4-2 to book his spot in the semi finals, but Yu Delu lost to Barry Hawkins. And Barry beat Judd as well 4-1 in the semi final.

This was a rather low scoring match by Neil and Shaun’s standards. Neil afterwards revealed that he was feeling unwell and couldn’t really get going.

Judd Trump 4-1 Ju Reti
2-75(75), 81(56)-0, 106(76)-1, 86(86)-5, 88(80)-0
Ju Reti didn’t look at all intimidated by the occasion and played a fairly attacking game. He had a good 75 to win the first frame. After that, Judd’s superior safety gave him the upper hand and when in, he scored heavily. All in all this was quite entertaining!

Liang Wenbo 2-4 Yu Delu
18-63, 72-41, 0-65(63), 68(68)-69, 86(53)-4, 29-71(53)
A close match and it could have gone either way. The key was that Yu Delu was more patient and won frames he shouldn’t have won whilst Wenbo went all out attack and maybe took a couple of risky shots too much.

Ronnie O’Sullivan 3-4 Yu Delu

Yu Delu played extremely well to beat Ronnie and deserved the win. Ronnie did miss a few but he also made a 140 and three other breaks over 50 (and still lost!), whilst Yu made a 102 and a 57, so that is telling of the quality of this match.

Shaun Murphy 0-4 Judd Trump

Judd was impressive, scoring heavily and entertaining the crowd.

Yu Delu couldn’t reproduce the form he showed against Ronnie. He had chances but couldn’t take them.
