The Masters 2016

13 January 2016 No Comment

Alexandra Palace, London – 10-18 January, 2016.
Grove’s Neil and Judd are competing in the most prestigious invitational tournament in the calender, The Masters. Neil has won it in 2012 and was runner-up twice since, Judd reached the Semi Finals in 2012 but lost in the last 16 in 2014 and 2015,
Judd beat Stephen Maguire by 6-4 in the last 16 whilst Neil beat an ailing Marco Fu by 6-0.
They had to play each other in the QF and it’s Judd who came on top, a winner by 6-5, but lost to Barry Hawkins in the SF

Judd and Neil battled it out for a semi final berth in a match that will be remembered as one of the best ever. They had six centuries between them – 4 for for Judd, 2 for Neil – a new record in a best of 11 match. They also beat the tournament highest break twice, first when Neil made a 139, next when Judd responded with 140.
