The 2023 Champion of Champions, featuring the event winners from the previous year, was played at the University Stadium in Bolton, England from 13 to 19 November 2023. The defending Champion was Ronnie O’Sullivan who withdrew from the tournament for medical reasons.

Three of the Grove players were in the draw: Luca Brecel, Mark Selby, and Ding Junhui. Luca and Mark lost in the first round, but Ding progressed thanks to a win over Zhang Anda, the man who had beaten him at the International Championship. That match went to the last black… Ding was 3-0 down and mounted an epic comeback!

It was as good as it went through for Ding as he was beaten by John Higgins in the next round (6-1).
