The 2024 Players Championship

18 March 2024 No Comment

The 2024 Players Championship took place in Telford International Centre, England, from 19 to 25 February 2024. Shaun Murphy was the defending champion but failed to qualify for the event, not being in the top 16 of the season’s list. The event was won by Mark Allen who beat Zhang Anda by 10-8 in the final.

From Grove, only Ding Junhui and Mark Selby played in this event. Ding lost in the first round to John Higgins (6-4). Mark Selby reached the semi-finals where he lost to Zhang Anda in the deciding frame. Remarkably, Mark had whitewashed Ronnie O’Sullivan in the previous round; he has of course beaten Ronnie multiple times before but never before by a whitewash.
