World Open: 18-26 September 2010, Glasgow

LIU SONG reached the last 16 of a major event for the first time in three years with a 3-1 victory over Leicester’s Joe Jogia on Monday.

Song, probably playing in his last Main Tour event of the season due to the reinstatement of John Higgins, has been on good form lately and showed it with a coolly-taken 107 break to wrap up the match.

His quarter final match was against Peter Ebdon and was unlucky to lose 2-3 in five closely-fought frames.

JUDD TRUMP’s failed to match Song’s achievement in getting out of the last 32, losing 2-3 to Stephen Maguire on Wednesday evening.

All Grove players now have the EPTC2 to look forward to in Bruges, Belgium, starting 1 October.
