Ethan regains National Title
There has been a big lead up with lots of intense training for Ethan due to the National Championships being held over the weekend 31st May. In the final Ethan had Jamie Liu from the Kingfisher Club in Reading – Ethan ran onto the court when called to play in the final and looked mentally strong. A big crowd had come to watch the final and Ethan was up for every bit of it. Ethan won the first set easy 11-3 coming out with amazing forehand and backhand loops – he went sailing ahead 7-1 in the 2nd set and seemed completely in the zone but in a turn around Ethan seemed to take his foot off the pedal and Jamie stole the second set to make it 1-1. Ethan came out buzzing for the third set and nobody was going to take away his title and he won the next 2 sets 11-3, 11-4.
It feels great,β said the Stevenage youngster. βI think I had some tough matches but I prepared for it and I had motivation.
βIn the final, when Jamie came back to 1-1 I knew I had to stay relaxed.β
“I would like to thank everyone for their continued support – Django (Grove Leisure), my club Batts and Neil Brierley , my coach Adam Nutland and my family.
Ethan has now been selected to go to Belgium to represent England in August in the European mini Championships. Last season Ethan went to this event and as a result got a ranking of number 11 in Europe for his age group. Ethan has an exciting summer ahead of him !!
