Judd beat Ronnie O’Sullivan by 3-2 in the final of the Championship League Snooker 2016, winning it for the third time. He’s the only multiple winner of the event, now in its seventh year. Judd had qualified for the Winners Group by winning Group 2, back in January.

After his victory Judd said (source Championship League Snooker site):

“Championship League really suits my game; it is a tournament where I can relax and if you lose in the group stage you have other games,” commented Trump.

“I need to take that mentality into other events and I will be a lot better player. It seemed to be slipping away at one point when I missed a few balls but it was a good break in the last frame.

“I didn’t play particularly great over the last few days but it is pleasing to win against some of the top players in the world. It gives me a lot of confidence ahead of the World Grand Prix where hopefully I can defend my title.

“You need a bit of luck to win tournaments and I haven’t quite had that. I hadn’t won a tournament yet so it is a big one for me to get into the Champion of Champions.”

Neil was also involved in the tournament, but withdrew from Group 5, that was due to be played on the Monday after the Welsh Open Final 2016.
