Luca Brecel is the only Grove player involved in this invitational tournament, played in Bangkok, from 5 to 10 September 2016. Luca reached the quarter finals, where he narrowly lost by 7-6 to Stephen Maguire, the 2015 champion.

Luca finished first of his group, despite failing to show for his last match, having got the schedule wrong. He beat Ivan Kakovsky in the last 32, and Ricky Walden in the last 16.
