Welsh Open 2018

5 March 2018 No Comment

The 2018 Welsh Open ran from February 26 to March 4, 2018 in the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff. The tournament was won by John Higgins who beat Barry Hawkins by 9-7 in the Final.
It wasn’t a great tournament for the Grove. The most successful player of the team was Jack Lisowski: he reached the last 32, were he lost by 4-3 to Nigel Bond. Nigel had also been the man who knocked Ali out by the same scoreline in the last 64. In fact, the whole Grove team, except Jack, went out at that stage. Neil quite extraordinarily made 3 centuries (130, 100 and 100) and still lost to Ian Burns by 4-3. There was more misery for Judd and Luca as they both were beaten soundly. Oli lost a hard fought close match against Yu Delu by 4-2.
