The 2019 UK Championship

The 2019 UK Championship was played in York Barbican from November 26 to December 9, 2019. The tournament was won by Ding Junhui. It was Ding’s third UK crown, ten years after his second. Although Django Fung isn’t managing Ding, he had the pleasure to work with him for this tournament.

Django said: “I’m so happy to work with Ding, and want to congratulate him for his achievements”.

Otherwise it was a bit of a strange tournament for the Grove players.

Judd Trump defends his Northern Ireland Open title

Judd Trump beat Ronnie O’Sullivan by 9-7 to retain his Northern Ireland Open title. It was a match of the highest quality, and a repeat of the previous year final. By winning this title, Judd accomplished something that hadn’t be done since Stephen Hendry in 1990/91, winning three ranking events as a first time World Champion, and, of course, there could be more to come. This victory further consolidates Judd’s status as the current dominant figure in snooker: he’s World Champion, World number one and miles ahead of everyone else …

The first round of the 2019 World Open was played in Barnsley from October 2 to October 5, 2019. Luca Brecel and Judd Trump have their match held-over to the main venue in Yushan, Judd because he’s the World Champion, Luca because he’s due to play a wildcard. All other Grove players were due to Barnsley…
Neil Robertson made the headlines for … driving to the “wrong” Barnsley: the one in Gloucester rather the one in Yorkshire. As a result he had to forfeit his match. It was the story …

Riga Masters 2019

The Riga Masters 2019 was played in Riga Arena, Riga, Latvia from 26 to 28 July 2019.
All grove players were involved except Judd Trump and Liang Wenbo. Neil Robertson was the defending champion. However he didn’t get the opportunity to defend his title: an unlikely combination of events meant that his flight to Riga was canceled whilst no other flight could get him there in time for his first match.
Ali Carter, Luca Brecel and Oliver Lines lost in the first round at the main venue (last 64). Jack Lisowski reached …
