The International Championship 2018

4 November 2018 No Comment

Neil Robertson reached the final of the International Championship 2018, played in Daqing, China from 28 October to 4 November 2018. He played great snooker all week, but, unfortunately, came short against Mark Allen who beat him by 10-5 in the final.

Neil playing during his SF in Daqing - November 3, 2018

It was in fact a very successful event for the Grove team. No less than four of the five players competing in Daqing reached the quarter finals: Neil, Jack, Ali and Judd. Ali was beaten at that stage by the eventual champion Mark Allen. Jack and Judd faced each other, and it was Jack who prevailed. Neil beat the current n°1 and defending champion, Mark Selby.
Again in the semi finals, the two remaining Grove players, Jack and Neil faced each other and it was Neil who won by 9-7. The match was extremely close and there was a lot of positives for Jack, despite the defeat, as reaching the SF in Daqing put him as N°16 in the race to the Masters, come January 2019. If Jack can consolidate his provisional seeding with some more good results in the two coming months, he could well reach the top 16 before the New Year. Less importantly, but still nice, Jack made the 100th century of the tournament in the SF match. It’s the first time that more than 100 centuries are made in a single ranking event.
