UK Championship 2018
The UK Championship 2018 was played at the York Barbican from November 27 to December 9, 2018. Ronnie O’Sullivan successfully defended his title, setting a new records of 7 UK Championship titles, and 19 Triple Crowns. He beat Mark Allen by 10-6 in the Final.
All Grove players were involved. Three of them – Jack Lisowski, Judd Trump and Neil Robertson – reached the last 16. Jack lost by 6-1 to Ronnie, the eventual champion, Neil lost by 6-5 to Mark Allen, the runner-up, and Judd fell by 6-4 to Joe Perry. Ali Carter and Luca Brecel got to the last 32, whilst both Oliver Lines and Liang Wenbo lost in round 1.
The match between Neil Robertson and Mark Allen was high quality. It stayed extremely close for the first nine frames, with Neil leading by 5-4 at that point. Then Mark Allen found something special and killed the match with two centuries. Judd was extremely disappointed after his defeat to Joe Perry. This was a match where most frames were won with the help of one telling visit. Judd got 4-3 up, but lost all three last frames. Ronnie had simply too much for Jack. Jack won the first frame, but Ronnie managed to contain Jack’s potting power and gradually started dominating the match, mixing good breaks with a rock solid safety.
