The 2020 Scottish Open

21 December 2020 No Comment

The 2020 Scottish Open was played at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, from 7 to 13 December 2020. Mark Selby successfully defended the title, beating Ronnie O’Sullivan by 9-3 in the final.
All Grove players, except Neil Robertson, were involved. Neil who had just won the 2020 UK Championship in the early hours on the day the Scottish Open was due to start, withdrew. Judd who was the UK Championship runner-up decided to play in the Scottish Open, despite being understandably fatigued.
Judd did very well to reach the quarter-finals under the circumstances: he narrowly lost by 5-4 to Li Hang. Ding also reached the quarter-finals; he lost by 5-4 as well to Ronnie O’Sullivan the eventual runner-up.
Ali Carter, Luca Brecel, and Jack Lisowski reached the second round. Ali and Luca lost to Robbie Williams and Liang Wenbo respectively. Jack was forced to withdraw, suffering from a bout of food poisoning.
