8 July 2024 No Comment

The 2024 Championship League Snooker – Ranking event was the first event of the 2024/25 season. It was played at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, England over the course of three weeks (10th of June to 3rd of July 2024). All the detailed results are on snooker.org.

Shaun Murphy was the defending Champion. Ali Carter won the event, beating Jackson page in the final by 3-1.

Wu Yize and Neil Robertson were the only Grove players involved.

In stage one, Both won their group.

Wu Yize won group 28, to qualify for the final week. He won all his matches in that group by 3-1. In stage 2, he played in group E, where he came second, only behind Ali Carter, the eventual event winner. He had one win, two draws and one defeat. It was a hard group with only three players: Ali Carter, Jack Lisowski and Wu Yize, so that’s a very good result for the young man. I that group all players played each other twice.
Wu’s two draws came against Ali. He had one win and one defeat against Jack Lisowski. Both times the score was 3-0.
The reason why group E had only three players is because Neil Robertson, who was the fourth player to qualify for it had to withdraw because a clash of schedule. He was due to play in China on the same day he was due to play in Leicester! In stage 1, Neil had topped Group 21 with two wins and a draw.
