World Open 2017

The World Open 2017 was played in Yushan, China, from September 18 to September 24, 2017.
It was Luca again would fared the better of the Grove team as he reached the semi finals where he lost by 6-4 to Ding Junhui the eventual Champion. This means that Luca is now firmly installed in the top 16 as he reaches his highest ranking to date as n° 12. The televison stages were held from September 12th 2017 to September 16th 2017, with only Luca and Jack involved. Both lost in the last 64.

The Paul Hunter Classic 2017

The Paul Hunter Classic 2017 was played in the Stadthalle, Fürth, Germany from 25 to 27 August 2017. It wasn’t a great event for team Grove. Judd and Neil had not entered. Oliver fell at first hurdle, and Jack and Luca lost in the last 64. All results are available on cuetracker.
There was also a ranking Ladies competition, running from 23 to 27 August 2017. Emma Parker was involved and here are her results. She won a match, but lost to Bex and Manon who are vastly experienced players. …

Luca Brecel won his first ranking title by beating Shaun Murphy 10-5 in the final of the Evergrande China Championship in Guangzhou.
Belgium’s 22-year-old Brecel came from 3-1 down to win nine of the last 11 frames against former World Champion Murphy, to land the silverware and top prize of £150,000.

Treble of qualifiers in Preston

Last 10 days saw three sets of qualifiers played in Preston. The first set was to qualify for the Indian Open. Jack Lisowski and Luca Brecel won their qualifying match, whilst Oliver Lines lost to Jan Preece and Neil Robertson withdrew. Judd had not entered. Next came the qualifiers for the European Masters.
