The first ranking event ever played in India gets underway in … Doncaster. Round 1 saw 128 players in action on August 11 & 12, 2013, with the 64 winners bound to Delhi later in the season. All Grove players were involved. Wenbo, Li Yan, Anda, Yu Delu and Sleepy will play in India. Judd, Jack and Li Hang didn’t make it.

All Grove players are involved, except for Judd who is seeded in the last 32. Four of them were in action on day 1, Li Yan, Li Hang and Chen Zhe all won their first matches. The APTC Event 1 was scheduled in Yixing from June 11 till June 14, 2013. All Grove players have entered except for Judd. In the last 16, Jack lost to “Eric” – Cao Yupeng – after an excellent match that went to a decider. Delu lost in the quarters, 4-1 to Alan McManus. Complete results here.

The Australian Goldfields Open 2013 Qualifiers were held in the Capital Venue in Gloucester from May 30 to June 3, 2013. Che Zhe, Li Hang, Li Yan, Zhang Anda and Yu Delu will try to qualify for the main event, played in July in Bendigo, Australia. Jack Lisowski, Judd Trump and Liang Wenbo did not enter. After four rounds, Anda is the last man standing and he’s Australia bound.

The new season got under with the Wuxi Classic; the first round was played at The Capital Venue, Gloucester (formerly South West Snooker Academy) from 27 to 29 May, 2013. All Grove players have entered. With the new flat structure, all were in action. Jack, Yu Delu, Sleepy, Hang, Wenbo and Judd have qualified. The qualifying stages proper of the World Championship 2013 are played in Sheffield from Saturday 6 April till Sunday 14 April 2013. Chen Zhe, Li Yan, Yu Delu, Zhang Andah, Liang Wenbo and Jack Lisowski will all try to get to the Crucible.
Jack, Yu Delu and Wenbo reached the final round. Wenbo lost to Mark Davis 6-10 and Yu was beat 9-10 by Mark King (heartbreak that!).
Jack beat Fergal O’Brien 10-4 in the final round and will make his Crucible debut. Well done Jack!

All Grove player were in action in the Welsh Open 2013. The qualifying stages started on Thursday, February 7 and the event proper kicked off on Monday, February 11. Only Judd and Wenbo made it to Newport. Wenbo came out the first winner at the venue, beating Ryan Day 4-1 but lost 2-4 to Matthew Stevens in last 32. Judd reached the semis after wins over Mike Dunn, Dominic Dale, Andrew Higginson and Pankaj Advani, but was denied the final Stephen Maguire.

The German Masters features a new, flatter structure this season and is played in two “parts”. The first one – from November 28 to 30, 2012 -saw all first round matches completed and part of round 2. All Grove (active) players were involved although Judd was not playing that week. None of the other Grove lads will join him in Berlin, alas. Judd lost to Anthony Hamilton in the last 32.

Fast, furious and crazy … don’t take it too seriously. The shootout is back with its 10 mins-1 frame matches, a 15 sec shot-clock for the first 5 minutes and only 10 sec for the remaining 5 minutes. Random draw in each row. This is meant to be havoc. Jack, Liang and Yu entered the circus, only Jack survives to the final day, but lost to Micael holt in the last 16.

The qualifying rounds of the China Open 2013 start on January 9, 2013 and are played over 4 days. All active Grove players will take part except for Judd who is seeded. Jack and Wenbo qualified for the venue and Sleepy reached the last 48. More detailed results here
