The 2023 Wuhan Open marked the return of ranking snooker in China, after the long gap caused by the covid pandemic. It was the first staging of this tournament, so there was no defending Champion. Judd Trump emerged the winner again, beating Ali Carter by 10-7 in the final.

The 2023 English Open was played from 2 to 8 October 2023 in Brentwood, Essex. The event was won by Judd Trump who beat Zhang Anda by 9-7 in the Final.
It wasn’t a great event for the Grove players,

Luca Brecel reaches the Final at the 2023 Shanghai Masters

The 2023 Shanghai Masters was played at the Grand Stage in Shanghai, from 11 to 17 September 2023. The prestigious invitational tournament featured only 24 players and all four Grove players featured in that elite group. Ronnie O’Sullivan was the defending champion.
The first round saw twelve professionals and four Chinese wildcards compete to reach the “last 16″ round. Ding was involved in that round and he beat Si Jishui by 6-2. This was Ding’s first match of the season.

Luca Brecel wins the 2023 World Championship whilst Mark Selby makes history …

The 2023 World Snooker Championship was a particularly happy one for the Grove players. Luca Brecel won it, beating Mark Selby in the final. Mark was trying to win a fifth World Title but ran across an inspired Luca Brecel. Luca – who is back at the Grove – won the final by 18-15 to become the first World Snooker Champion from mainland Europe. The 2023 Tour Championship was played in Hull, from 27 March to 2 April 2023. This tournament features only the top 8 players of the season. From Grove Mark Selby, Ding Junhui, and Ali Carter were involved.
Ali was beaten by Mark in the QFs, Mark and Ding bowed out in the semi-finals. This was an important event for Ding though: indeed he did enough to secure his spot as a seeded player in the 2023 World Championship. The event was won by Shaun Murphy.

Mark Selby wins the 2023 WST Classic

All Grove players were involved in the 2023 WST Classic. The tournament took place at the Morningside Arena in Leicester from 16 to 22 March 2023. It was a late replacement for the canceled 2023 Turkish Masters and was played without spectators, except on the final’s day. Mark Selby, the local man won the title.

2023 Players Championship – Ali Carter reaches another Final

Ali Carter was beaten by Shaun Murphy in the final of the 2023 Players Championship.
The tournament was played in Wolverhampton, from 20 to 26 February 2023. Neil Robertson was the defending champion but hadn’t qualified as the tournament features only the top sixteen of the season’s list. Shaun, who scored extremely heavily all week, beat Ali by 10-4.

The 2023 Welsh Open

All professional members of the Grove team took part in the 2023 Welsh Open. For the first time, the tournament was played in Llandudno in North Wales. It ran from 13 to 19 February 2023. Joe Perry was the defending champion. It was won by Robert Milkins, who beat Shaun Murphy in the Final

For once all Grove players participated in an event… the 2023 Shoot Out. the one frame shoot out event was played in Leicester from 25 to 28 January 2023. The event was won by Chris Wakelin.
From the Grove team, it was Michael Holt who got the best result: a quarter-final. Michael, of course, is a former winner of this event.

Judd Trump makes the Final at the 2023 World Grand Prix

Judd Trump made it to the Final of the 2023 World Grand Prix for the second year in a row. He was beaten in a deciding frame by Mark Allen.
