2023 Players Championship – Ali Carter reaches another Final

Ali Carter was beaten by Shaun Murphy in the final of the 2023 Players Championship.
The tournament was played in Wolverhampton, from 20 to 26 February 2023. Neil Robertson was the defending champion but hadn’t qualified as the tournament features only the top sixteen of the season’s list. Shaun, who scored extremely heavily all week, beat Ali by 10-4.

The 2023 Welsh Open

All professional members of the Grove team took part in the 2023 Welsh Open. For the first time, the tournament was played in Llandudno in North Wales. It ran from 13 to 19 February 2023. Joe Perry was the defending champion. It was won by Robert Milkins, who beat Shaun Murphy in the Final

For once all Grove players participated in an event… the 2023 Shoot Out. the one frame shoot out event was played in Leicester from 25 to 28 January 2023. The event was won by Chris Wakelin.
From the Grove team, it was Michael Holt who got the best result: a quarter-final. Michael, of course, is a former winner of this event.

Judd Trump makes the Final at the 2023 World Grand Prix

Judd Trump made it to the Final of the 2023 World Grand Prix for the second year in a row. He was beaten in a deciding frame by Mark Allen.
The tournament was played in Cheltenham for the first time and ran from 16 to 22 January 2023. Ronnie O’Sullivan was the defending champion.

Judd Trump wins the 2023 Masters

Congratulations to Judd Trump, the 2023 Masters Champion!

Judd won the prestigious Masters for the second time at Alexandra Palace, beating Mark Williams by 10-8 in a high-quality final.
The tournament was played from the 8th of January to the 15th of January 2023, in Alexandra Palace, in London. All detailed results can be found on snooker.org.

Mark Selby wins the 2022 English Open

The 2022 English Open was the last snooker ranking event of 2022. It was played in Brentwood, Essex, from 12 to 18 December 2022. Although Essex has been a hotbed for snooker for decades, this was actually the first ranking event ever played in the area.
Neil Robertson was the defending champion and made a good job of it, reaching the semi-finals, where he lost to the eventual Champion.
Mark Selby won the event, beating Luca Brecel by 9-6 in the Final.

The 2022 Scottish Open

The 2022 Scottish Open was played in Edinburgh from 28 November to 4 December 2022. Luca Brecel was the defending Champion. The event was won by Gary Wilson who beat Joe O’Connor by 9-2 in the final. It was Gary’s first ranking title and Joe’s first appearance in a ranking final.
All Grove players reached at least the last 32 round. Ding and Ali Carter lost at that stage.

Ding reaches the Final at the 2022 UK Championship

The 2022 UK Championship was played in two phases. Tiered qualifiers were held in Ponds Forge in Sheffield from the 5th to the 10th of November 2022, followed by the 32 players’ main tournament, played at the Barbican in York, from the 12th to the 20th of November 2022.
Zhao Xintong was the defending Champion. The event was won by Mark Allen, who beat Ding Junhui by 10-7 in the Final.

All professional Grove players were involved. Ali and Ding needed to qualify. Ding was successful.

Judd Trump loses his Champion of Champions crown but hits a 147 in the Final

The 2022 Champion of Champions was played in Bolton, from 31 October to 6 November 2022. Judd Trump was the defending champion. He reached the final again but was beaten 10-6 by Ronnie O’Sullivan
This tournament is open to players who were event winners in the previous year. From Grove, Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, and Mark Selby were invited. Mark hadn’t won an event but got an invitation on the basis of his ranking
Neil narrowly lost in the first round to Fan Zhengyi, the European Masters Champion.

The 2022 Northern Ireland Open

The 2022 Northern Ireland Open was played from 16 to 23 October 2022 at the Waterfront in Belfast. Mark Allen was the defending champion and he successfully defended, beating Zhou Yuelong by 9-4 in the final.
Neil Robertson was the most successful of the Grove players. He lost by 6-2 in the semi-final to Mark Allen, the eventual champion. Neil had beaten Mark Selby by 5-2 in the previous round (QF).
