The 2024 World Grand Prix

The 2024 World Grand Prix was played from 15 to 21 January 2024 at the Morningside Arena in Leicester, England. Mark Allen was the defending champion. The event was won by Ronnie O’Sullivan, who beat Judd Trump by 10-7 in the Final.
This event is for the 32 highest-ranked players in the current season list. From the Grove, only Mark Selby and Ding Junhui had qualified.
Mark lost to Judd Trump in the quarter-finals (5-1) and Ding lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semi-finals (6-1).

The 2024 Masters

The 2024 Masters was played at Alexandra Palace in London from 7 to 14 January 2024. Mark Allen was the defending champion. Ronnie O’Sullivan won the event for the eighth time, beating Ali Carter by 10-7 in the final.
All the Grove players were involved.
Only Mark Selby progressed past the first round. In the quarter-finals, he was narrowly beaten (6-5) by Mark Allen, the defending champion.

The 2023 Scottish Open

The 2023 Scottish Open was the last ranking event of the year. It was played in Edinburgh from 11 to 17 December 2023.
Gary Wilson was the defending champion and defended the title. That’s a remarkable feat considering that the 2022 Scottish Open was his first (and only) ranking title.

The 2023 International Championship

The 2023 International Championship took place in the Tianjin People’s Gymnasium, Tianjin, China from 5 to 12 November 2023.
The tournament hadn’t been held since 2019 because of Covid. Judd Trump was the defending Champion.
The event was won by Zhang Anda who beat Tom Ford by 10-6 in a Final not many would have predicted.

The 2023 Northern Ireland Open was played at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast from 22 to 29 October 2023. The event was won by Judd Trump, who beat Chris Wakelin by 9-3 in the final.
Neil Robertson was the only Grove player in the draw, He lost to Jordan Brown in round 2 (L64) by 4-1.

The 2023 Wuhan Open marked the return of ranking snooker in China, after the long gap caused by the covid pandemic. It was the first staging of this tournament, so there was no defending Champion. Judd Trump emerged the winner again, beating Ali Carter by 10-7 in the final.

The 2023 English Open was played from 2 to 8 October 2023 in Brentwood, Essex. The event was won by Judd Trump who beat Zhang Anda by 9-7 in the Final.

The 2023 European Masters was the first “non-league” ranking event of the 2023/24 season. It was played in Nuremberg, Germany from 22 to 27 August 2023.
From the Grove, only Neil Robertson and Mark Selby had entered the event. Neil didn’t make the trip to Germany as he lost in the qualifiers. Mark reached the semi-finals, where he lost by 6-4 to the eventual champion, Barry Hawkins.

Luca Brecel wins the 2023 World Championship whilst Mark Selby makes history …

The 2023 World Snooker Championship was a particularly happy one for the Grove players. Luca Brecel won it, beating Mark Selby in the final. Mark was trying to win a fifth World Title but ran across an inspired Luca Brecel. Luca – who is back at the Grove – won the final by 18-15 to become the first World Snooker Champion from mainland Europe. Mark Selby wins the 2023 WST Classic

All Grove players were involved in the 2023 WST Classic. The tournament took place at the Morningside Arena in Leicester from 16 to 22 March 2023. It was a late replacement for the canceled 2023 Turkish Masters and was played without spectators, except on the final’s day. Mark Selby, the local man won the title.
